West TN Officers Out in Force
This weekend may be a holiday for most West Tennesseans, but that is not the case for law enforcement. The Tennessee Highway Patrol along with other agencies, will be out in full force in West Tennessee. The hope their increased presence will help keep drivers on their toes and will help get dangerous drivers off the road quickly. As 7 Eyewitness News has told you earlier this week, they will not just be looking for intoxicated drivers. “We’re looking for drivers that choose not to buckle up,” said Lt. Brad Wilbanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. “Last year during the Memorial Day weekend, 19 people were killed in crashes. 50 percent of the vehicle occupants were not buckled up. That’s not acceptable. If you’re not wearing a seat belt this weekend, we’re going to try to find you and try to get you to buckle up.” If you find that you have had too much to drink this weekend, AAA and Budweiser have teamed up to offer free rides and tow services.
