West Tennessee celebrated Memorial Day by remembering the fallen soldiers. One by one fallen soldiers’ names were read at a memorial service in Dresden. Dozens of residents and veterans gathered at the city’s courthouse square to pay their respects. “I’m just real patriotic, and I always try to come to these events. I lost a brother in in World War II,” said resident Methel Shobe. While some gathered to remember those who fought for their freedom, veterans were thinking of the men who fought by their side. Veterans said they were grateful for memorial services, but wish more citizens would be aware and remember those who fought for their freedom. “I hate that no more people are in attendance in these situations. We need to remember these memorials,” said World War II veteran T. Joe Walker.
