Riverside Principal Reacts to Teacher’s Arrest

There is new information in the arrest of Riverside High School teacher and coach Adam Comer. Comer and another man were arrested Monday around 2 a.m. in Lexington on charges of prostitution, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department. Riverside Principal Hugh Smith said he is still shocked officers arrested Comer for prostitution, within school zone. “Shocking you know you wouldn’t expect that type of behavior out of a teacher,” said Smith. Henderson County investigators said Comer agreed to pay Ryan Weimar for sex in a car within two miles of a Henderson County school zone. “We’re disappointed this happened, we expect our teachers to be model citizens and set a great example for our kids,” said Smith. Students who did not want to be identified told 7 Eyewitness News, Comer was always friendly, and spent time with them outside of the classroom. ” We’ve never had any reports of any type of inappropriate behavior activity involving kids,” said Smith. After careful review and consideration of the circumstances, Principal Smith said his students and teachers will not see Comer in the fall. “Of what was reported, it was illegal and inappropriate and we don’t condone that type of behavior. He is not on our list of teachers to be rehired, ” said Smith. Comer taught history and economics. Riverside students said he will be missed.
