An agency that helps promote development and growth of cities and counties across Southwest Tennessee is showing off its new offices. The Southwest Tennessee Development District opened its new downtown location to the public and community leaders. The planning agency in now located in the former City Lumber location on East College Street. Those attending said there were impressed with the location. “We love being in downtown Jackson. The people have been great to us down here. We love the ability to walk to restaurants, and so it’s just been a great move for us,” said Joe Barker, executive director of the Southwest Tennessee Development District. Leaders of the planning organization said the offices will allow it to continue its mission of renewing and revitalizing both rural and urban communities with economic and community development, which will improve quality of life fore residents in an eight-county area.
