Hundreds Attend Methodist Conference

More than 900 Methodist Church Clergy and laity delegates from all over West Tennessee are in town visiting Jackson to worship. Today kicked off the first of many events the First Methodist Church is holding for guests and visitors this week in this year’s 2012 Annual Memphis Conference. Officials said, the conference includes more than 80,000 members within 425 United Methodist Churches in the West Tennessee Region and Western Kentucky. . Members said, this event is held to discuss important issues within the Church, such as Membership and Attendance. ” I do think throughout culture for the last several decades there has been this felt decline that perhaps Church doesn’t matter as much as it used to,” said Rev. David Brent Hollis of First Methodist Church. Organizers said, they hope their public worship events throughout the week will increase attendance and reach out to more residents in West Tennessee.
