STAR Center Hosts Summer Reading Program
Some children who need a little help getting their summer reading assignments done are getting a boost from the STAR Center in north Jackson. Second, third and fourth graders gather every Thursday throughout the summer to take part in the Reading Program. It is designed for those who need support in completing the reading that must be completed before they return to school in August. “At the very end of the program, we really hope that students feel good about reading and feel confident in their ability,” said Laura Beth Lloyd, Literary Instructor. “And hopefully they have read all of their assigned summer reading books.” Guest readers, like our Keli McAlister, often take part in the camp. The STAR Center provides services to children and adults with all types of disabilities.
