JACKSON, Tenn.- The charges have been dismissed against a Brownsville father accused of beating up and shooting at two 15-year-old boys in Jackson last month. According to the city clerk’s office, the charges of aggravated assault against Bobby Avery, 33, were dropped Thursday because his alleged victims failed to appear for a preliminary hearing. However, the state can reinstate the charges in the future. On July 23, Avery was accused of driving to a neighborhood on Sherwood Lane in east Jackson with several friends and beating the teen brothers then chasing them in a car and shooting at them. Police said earlier that same day, the brothers had intervened in a fight between their sister and Avery’s daughter.
