Sex Offender Arrested at the Fair

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Madison County Sheriff‘s Department said deputies arrested a sex offender at the West Tennessee State Fair, Thursday. According to a news release, Daricus Robinson Shaw, 35, of Jackson, was working at the Ring Toss booth for Geren Amusement Company at Jackson Fairgrounds Park. He was arrested and charged with Violation of Tennessee Sex Offender Registry Law. Investigators said that in 1998, he was convicted of Child Molestation and Sexual Battery in Atlanta, Georgia. Deputies discovered Shaw was released from the Carroll County Jail on July 2, 2012, and failed to report to a law enforcement agency within the required for 48 hour time period. Additionally, because Shaw is a registered sex offender, he is not permitted to “knowingly accept employment within one thousand feet (1,000′) of the property line of any…public park, play-ground, recreation center or public athletic field available for use by the general public,” according to Tennessee state law. Shaw‘s arraignment has not been scheduled at this time.
