Pinson Mounds Hosting Annual Archeofest

PINSON, Tenn.- If you and your family are looking for something to do this weekend that is both fun and educational, why not check out the 30th annual Archeofest at Pinson Mounds State Park in South Madison County. It is an event designed to celebrate Native American culture. Children from area schools got to kick-start the event with “Kids Day,” by watching a prehistoric weapons demonstration, listening to stories and visiting dozens of vendors. Participants said it is important for people of any age to visit Archeofest, to clear up common misconceptions about Native Americans. “A lot of people think sometimes we’re savage, or we just don’t do things the way the normal does, and we do, it’s just our words are a little different and it’s fun because everybody learns something,” said Janett Clark, visiting Archeofest from South Carolina. Archeofest, which is a free event continues through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pinson Mounds State Park in South Madison County.
