County Commission Makes Retirement Changes

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – Non-certified Jackson-Madison County School employees will not be allowed to participate in the state retirement plan. Madison County Commissioners objected to the continued participation of non-teachers to be enrolled in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement plan. The decision means that all non-certified new hires after July 1 will not be be a part of the TCRS plan. County commissioners said the plan was too expensive and they have created a new program called the “Defined Contribution Plan” where the county will contribute money and employees can choose to match it.
