Fire officials told 7 Eyewitness News they were able to extinguish the last flame, Monday afternoon after they were able to dump a large amount of sand on the smoldering fire. The exact cause of the fire, which started last Thursday, remained under investigation, though fire officials said from the onset they believed it began when flames from the incinerator were able to catch some of the recyclables on fire.
