HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Henderson County officials have arrested a man for leaving his 21-month-old child home alone overnight. Investigators said Gregory George Wiseman, Jr. told them he thought his fiance was about to be home, so he decided to leave. The fiance, who is the mother of the child, did not return home until 11:00 am the next day. She allegedly made several unanswered calls to Wiseman. She contacted the Sheriff’s Department after finding her child screaming in the crib. Witnesses told investigators they saw Wiseman at a house party the night in question. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with child abuse and neglect. He has been released on a $5,000 bond. The mother told 7 Eyewitness News she intends to drop the charges and that it was only a misunderstanding. Officials at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department said they are not legally able to drop the charges due the the fact they involve child abuse allegations.
