Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital Celebrating NICU 20th Anniversary
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital will celebrate 20 years of excellence with a reunion of children cared for in the unit. All graduates are invited to attend this fun, free event on Sunday, September 30 from 2-4 p.m. at the Jackson Fairgrounds South Pavilion. Pony rides, a petting zoo, a dandy jumper, train rides and refreshments will all highlight the reunion. Deena Kail, Executive Director of the West Tennessee Women‘s Center and Ayers Children‘s Medical Center, says the Neonatal ICU has grown from a 15 bed unit in 1992 to a state-of-the-art 28 bed unit today taking care of critically ill, premature, low birth weight and high risk babies from all over the area. “Parents don‘t have to go to Memphis or Nashville, away from the support of family and friends, because we are fortunate enough to have Neonatologists and a Neonatal ICU here,” says Kail.
