Bethel Basketball Coach Arrested

WEAKLEY CO. Tenn. – An athletic coach at one West Tennessee university has been arrested. Weakley County sheriff’s deputies told 7 Eyewitness News they arrested Jeff Britt Saturday night for driving under the influence. Britt is the men’s head basketball coach at Bethel University. The sheriff’s department said they arrested Britt at around 8:45 p.m., after a deputy saw him swerving all over the road. Deputies said they also found an open container inside Britt’s car. Officials said Britt is facing charges for driving under the influence, having an open container, and failing to drive within a lane. Deputies said Britt was released from the jail Sunday morning on $1500 bond. He will appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court on October 10. According to Bethel’s website, this is Britt’s 13th year as the men’s head basketball coach.
