Opening arguments set in buttocks injection trial

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A defense attorney says a woman charged in the illegal cosmetic injection death of another woman had received the same kind of shots in her buttocks more than 10 times.

Defense lawyer Kevin Camp made the statement Wednesday in the murder trial of Natasha Stewart of suburban Memphis, Tenn.

Stewart, an adult entertainer also known as Pebbelz Da Model, has pleaded not guilty in the death of Karima Gordon of Atlanta.

Prosecutors say Gordon paid Stewart $200 for a referral to the person who administered silicone injections to her buttocks in Jackson in 2012. She died days later.

Camp says the same person had given injections to Stewart and that Stewart didn’t know they could cause serious harm.

Prosecutor Patrick Beasley said the case was about “greed.”
