Chief Deputy Announces He Will Seek Interim Sheriff Appointment
DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Tommy Cunningham announced Monday that he will seek the appointment of interim Madison County Sheriff until the August election. In the written statement, Cunningham states that he has more than 44 years of service with the citizens of Madison County. Cunningham is currently the chief deputy. “My training and experience makes me the most qualified person to lead the Sheriff’s Office through this healing process and to provide a smooth transition for the elected Sheriff on September 1, 2014.” The previous sheriff, David Woolfork, was suspended from office last week.
