Pedestrian Struck, Killed by 18-Wheeler

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man was killed Saturday morning, after deputies say he was stuck by an 18-wheeler at a Jackson truck stop. Gene McCoy, 69, left his vehicle to secure a backhoe to his trailer when he fell and got caught under the wheels of an 18-wheeler driven by Joe Shelton, of Seymour, Ind. McCoy, of Salem, Ohio, was at the TA Truck Stop located at 155 Hwy. 138. Shelton was traveling west in the parking lot of TA Truck Stop at the time of the incident. There was no indication of speed or other impairments as contributing factors to the crash. The Madison County Sheriff‘s Office is continuing the investigation.
