Fire appears set to cover up slaying
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – An official in East Tennessee says a weekend blaze appears to have been set to cover up a slaying.
Greeneville Fire Chief Mark Foulks told The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/ORtjng) that emergency crews responding to the house fire on Sunday found two people inside the residence. He said Elizabeth Cooter was dead and Roger Dewayne Aiken was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Foulks said firefighters contacted police because injuries suffered by Cooter and Aiken did not appear to be related to the blaze.
He said the Greeneville Police Department has taken the lead on the investigation.
