SC officers find teens wanted in Tenn. killing
NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) – Police have found four teenagers wanted in the killing of one of their fathers in Tennessee after a 10-hour search in central South Carolina.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster says someone called 911 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday when they saw the teens in the woods. A helicopter followed them until deputies were able to take them into custody.
The teens, ages 15 and 16, led police on a chase Thursday morning after their van was spotted at a rest area on Interstate 26. Foster says they ran into the woods after the van crashed.
Investigators don’t have a motive for the killing in Greeneville, Tenn.
Foster says it appears one teen killed his father, then picked up the others as he tried to get away.
