Police ask TBI to investigate prosecutor
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) – The Cleveland Police Department has asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to handle a complaint that 10th Judicial District Attorney Steve Bebb assaulted a female assistant district attorney in his office.
Police spokeswoman Evie West said Cynthia LeCroy Schemel filed a complaint Friday saying Bebb assaulted her on Wednesday.
No details were provided, but Schemel told the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/1hmbIjh) on Saturday that Bebb yelled at her, grabbed her and cocked a fist at her.
West said the case is an active investigation and no more information will be released until authorized by the TBI.
