Bones found in Miss. not from missing man
WALLS, Miss. (AP) – Bones discovered in the Walls, Miss., over the weekend have been identified as those of a deer.
Searchers had hoped the bones found Saturday in an area along U.S. Highway 61 might offer the first break in finding out what became of James Irby Jr., of Memphis, Tenn., missing since he ran into a field following a traffic stop the morning of May 4, 2013.
Master Sgt. Charles Hale of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation tells The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1kWUj2Z ) an analysis showed the bones belonged to a deer.
Hale says there was only a 50-50 chance the bones found in a largely rural area with plenty of wildlife were human.
Hale says the next step will be to search the area to the west, closer to the Mississippi River.
