Jackson Area Community Bands Twentieth Anniversary Concert

This spring marks the 20th anniversary of the Jackson Area Community Bands. A concert to celebrate this milestone will take place on Monday, April 28, 7:00 p.m., at Northside United Methodist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. The concert is free and open to the public. The organization consists of two bands, both of which will perform in the concert: the Jackson Symphonic Winds, a concert band, under the direction of Mr. Tom Grant, and the Jackson Swing Orchestra, a jazz band, led by Mr. Joe Haynes. The Symphonic Winds will present music by Grainger, Holst, and Heed. Their lineup will also include a Mozart piece featuring flute soloist Tere Ervin and a medley of tunes from the musical Les Misérables. The Swing Orchestra will play a selection of favorites from the jazz repertoire. A reception will take place after the concert, where concertgoers can enjoy a dessert and mingle with the musicians. Newspaper articles and concert programs from years gone by, as well as a slideshow of old photographs and video footage, will be on display.
