Student watercolors of parks being displayed

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) – Students from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School have created a watercolor landscape project on national parks, and the prints are being displayed to the public.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park says as part of National Park Week this week, the watercolors will be on display at Sugarlands Visitor Center and at Park Headquarters through May 12. Well-known parks such as Grand Canyon National Park are included as well as lesser known sites.

Through its Call to Action Plan, the National Park Service challenges parks to involve young people in creating works of the park experience through various media. The idea is to get young people involved in the 2016 Centennial Celebration.
