Bow season on black bears opens in Tenn.

ONEIDA, Tenn. (AP) – Hunters have taken five black bears during the first weekend of bow hunting season.

WBIR-TV (http://on.wbir.com/1DQQQd8) reports two of the bears were taken by hunters in Scott County in northern Tennessee during the first bow hunting season allowed there.

Cindy Jeffers, an employee at Country Store in Oneida where hunters could register, said one bear weighed nearly 300 pounds.

State law permits each registered hunter to make one kill per season.
