East Tenn. woman dies after house fire
CLINTON, Tenn. (AP) – An East Tennessee woman has died after being pulled from a house that caught fire.
WATE-TV (http://bit.ly/1qz4qPa) reports neighbors told firefighters that 65-year-old Martha Bailey of Clinton made it out of the home after it caught fire on Wednesday, but went back in to try to rescue a pet.
An Anderson County deputy and reserve deputy pulled her out, and she was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office said on Thursday morning that she died during the night from her injuries.
Chief Deputy Mark Lucas says it appears the blaze was accidental and started in the living room.
