Guns, cocaine seized by Memphis detectives
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Police say 23 people have been indicted and guns, cocaine and cash have been seized after detectives broke up a drug ring that operated in Memphis.
Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said Wednesday that Organized Crime Unit detectives have arrested 15 of the 23 people charged with being part of the “major criminal enterprise” that sold drugs in two neighborhoods.
Armstrong said detectives seized more than 9 pounds of powder and crack cocaine, more than $200,000 in cash, 10 vehicles and 23 firearms, including revolvers, shotguns, semi-automatic pistols and assault rifles.
Those arrested face charges of conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and deliver. They range in ages from 29 to 60.
