TVA says no timetable yet on Boone Lake water level

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Valley Authority says there’s still no timetable for when Boone Lake will return to normal levels.

The utility drew down the water level of the lake earlier this year due to riverbank seepage near the dam.

TVA spokesman Travis Brickey told The Kingsport Times-News (http://bit.ly/1tu2k4v) that any talk about how long the drawdown might last is “speculation.” He says there’s “no new information” on when the lake’s water levels will be returned to normal.

The lake is currently about 12 feet below its normal winter level, and about 30 feet below its normal summer level.

Brickey says TVA is reviewing repair options and will announce those plans when they are finalized.
