Man charged with shooting at Memphis party bus arrested

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Police say a man charged with shooting at a party bus full of people celebrating the New Year has been arrested on 25 counts of attempted murder.

Memphis police say 32-year-old Robert Sanders turned himself in Wednesday. Online court records do not show if Sanders has a lawyer.

A report from the police department says officers received a call from a hospital at 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 1. Officers found that a bus carrying 25 people had arrived at the hospital.

Police said a disturbance had taken place between partygoers who were at a bar. After the bus left the bar, two vehicles approached it, and the driver of one of the vehicles opened fire.

Five people on the bus were struck by gunfire. Two of them were critically injured.
