Schools take precautions as cold snap hits
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Classes are being disrupted at a handful of school as officials try to prepare for bitterly cold weather.
Media report some schools in Middle and East Tennessee have called on classes on Wednesday. Others were either opening late or closing early. Some said they would remain closed on Thursday.
The moves come after the National Weather Service issued an advisory warning of artic air moving into the region beginning on Tuesday night. Forecasters say it is bringing subfreezing temperatures that will last through Friday afternoon.
Lows are expected to be in the single digits while highs in the 20s are expected.
