Longtime Collierville Alderman Jimmy Lott dies

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Town of Collierville says longtime Alderman Jimmy Lott has died.

In a news release, Collierville officials said Lott died Tuesday. He served Collierville, a suburb of Memphis, for more than four decades on numerous town boards and commissions, and as an elected alderman since 1987.

An Air Force veteran, he was the city’s third-longest-serving alderman.

According to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1z82wbi ), Mayor Stan Joyner said the 76-year-old Lott had been struggling with his health in the past several months.

Joyner said Lott’s leadership was important to the town’s completion of projects like Carriage Crossing and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville.
