Man in court accused of abducting woman, stealing her car

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was officially charged Monday in Jackson City Court on domestic assault and kidnapping charges after allegedly abducting the mother of his child and stealing her car. A woman told police that Jeffery Wilbourn Jr., her child’s father, came to her Parkridge Drive apartment and confronted her, grabbing her around the neck and strangling her, according to an affidavit. The document goes on to say Wilbourn also bit the woman’s nose and mouth during the assault. The woman told police Wilbourn refused to leave her apartment and stayed the night. The next morning, Wilbourn allegedly threatened the woman with a knife and strangled her before taking her car and making her leave with him, according to the affidavit. The woman told police she was able to escape when Wilbourn stopped at a Royal Street business, although he tried to force her back into the car. She then was able to flag down a passing motorist for help. She said Wilbourn then left in her car. Wilbourn is charged with aggravated domestic assault, aggravated kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $12,000.
