Child passenger safety instruction scheduled in Covington
COVINGTON, Tenn. (AP) – The Tipton County’s Sheriff’s Office says it will host a child passenger safety checkpoint community event.
The sheriff’s office says the event is scheduled to take place on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Highway 51 in Covington.
Officials say the goal of the event is to educate parents and caregivers on the proper use of car seats in their vehicles.
About 23 West Tennessee law enforcement officers who are receiving training to become Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will complete their certification by providing assistance to those who attend the free event.
The technicians will have restraint devices on hand to provide a car seat for those drivers who have recalled or outdated car seats.
