Shelby County inmate escapes work-release detail
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a search is on for a Shelby County Corrections Center inmate who walked away from his work-release detail in Memphis.
Shelby County officials say 26-year-old Bobby Lee Jackson left the pallet shipping area at Drexel Chemical on Monday.
Officials say a supervisor saw Jackson walk away from the building with a woman who had given him a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Jackson is serving a three-year sentence for aggravated burglary. He was part of an eight-person crew assigned to the chemical plant.
Authorities say Jackson has a tattoo saying “Bobby Like Father Like Son” on his left arm and another tattoo on his right arm saying “Like Son.”
Correction center inmates who meet certain qualifications are allowed to work at government facilities, nonprofit organizations and businesses throughout Shelby County.
