JACKSON, Tenn. — A retired Jackson police officer is set to appear in court Friday morning after being accused of assault. Peaches Nesbitt’s criminal summons was processed Thursday, and she is scheduled to appear at 8 a.m. Friday in Jackson City Court on a misdemeanor count of simple assault. Judge Blake Anderson has confirmed he plans to recuse himself from Nesbitt’s case. There has not yet been a booking photo taken of Nesbitt because she will not officially be charged until her arraignment. Nesbitt is accused of taking a 1-year-old child from her mother while in line at Walmart in Jackson after accusing the mother of shoplifting. Nesbitt retired in December 2012 after 33 years with the Jackson Police Department.
