HUMBOLDT, Tenn. – Finishing 5-6 last season wasn’t what Humboldt football coach Junior Reid had in mind. He’s expecting a different outcome in his third year. “I have an unusual mix that’s coming back. I have some players that didn’t play last year that were awfully good players that played the year before,” Reid said. “My junior class coming up will be a very good class. They’re some very good athletes in that class. I think they’re going to fill a lot of spots we have missing.” Reid added his quarterback competition is going well. Junior Izaya Brown is the front runner. “Good little athlete. This will be his [Brown] first year,” Reid said. “We’ll have some growing pains with him. I feel like he’ll be a good guy to do it and we’ll stick with him.” The Vikings season kicks off against Memphis Academy of Health Sciences on August 21.
