Barons hold off Generals in game one

The Birmingham Barons defeated the Jackson Generals 5-3 in game one of the series. The Generals went down 0-3 in the early innings. Jackson got back in the contest with a pair of runs from Tyler Bortnick and Tyler Smith in the fifth and sixth inning. Birmingham added cushion to their 3-2 advantage in the final frame with two runs. Game two of the series is set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
