Lake County’s football team prepares for another season with a small roster. More players from both teams could be seen on the field than on their sidelines last season. The same will be said this year. The Falcons have 23 players on their roster heading into the second week of camp. “We just have to find depth. It’s always a 1A issue,” head coach Josh Puckett said. “We’re going to have to rely on some freshman this year, so that’s always an interesting endeavor.” Although young, Puckett believes his rookies can step up to the challenge. “I think so. We have a couple of freshman that are actually talented,” said Puckett said. “Our motto always is it’s hard to play against us, but harder to play for us.” The Falcons can’t control the number of players that join their football program. What is in their hands is the effort given by the group that they have. “We demand a lot out of our kids. The numbers show. It’s not for everybody. Not everybody is going to want to do it. But for the numbers we have, they work hard and we’re proud of them.”
