It’s been seven years since Gibson County’s football team has won more than three games. This may or may not be the season that drought ends, but head coach Morgan Cruce believes his team is putting in great work in training camp. “We try to push these kids in all aspects of their lives,” Cruce said. “They’re really trying to grow as much as they can. You’re going to see a bunch of hard working individuals give it every play.” The Pioneers visited McKenzie on Friday for a seven team scrimmage. Cruce says the accelerated tempo is good for his quarterback. “It gives my quarterbacks a chance to start seeing how to read things, especially when a defense knows we’re going to pass,” Cruce said. “We’re trying to coach our quarterbacks up to go through progression.” Gibson County plays Zion Christian on the road in Week 1.
