JACKSON, Tenn. — RIFA held their 4th annual ‘Pack the Bus’ event for their Snack Backpack program that serves 15 out of 16 Jackson-Madison County elementary schools. RIFA held the fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the north and south Wal-Mart locations in Jackson. Volunteers passed out grocery lists to shoppers with food to buy for the packs and took donations. “Those children who may or may not receive a meal between Friday afternoon and Monday mornings are provided with a backpack full of six easy to prepare meals that they can enjoy for the weekend,” RIFA Communications Director Chelsea Cobb said. Pack the Bus raised more than $1,600 and more than 7,000 pounds of food Saturday.
