Warden: Detain workers who take rosters outside prison
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Tennessee prison warden has called for correctional officers to be detained if they remove scheduling information from prison grounds.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1Py3Hon ) reports that West Tennessee State Penitentiary Warden James M. Holloway told two prison officials in an Aug. 14 email that officers found with employee rosters pose a security threat and should be detained.
Local media outlets have used shift rosters or similar documents to highlight staffing and safety concerns at Tennessee prisons, such as how often correctional officers are working 16-hour shifts.
Holloway says that the information could be used to help an inmate escape.
The state says no officers have been detained, but an officer could be fired if they are found with that information.
