The winner of Liberty Tech and North Side’s football game in the past five years has been decided by a touchdown or less with the exception of last year’s 42-19 outcome (Crusaders won). This year could result in another down to the wire contest. “We have to play a great football game to compete with North Side,” head coach Tyler Turner said. “North Side has the size and the speed. We know we have a tough task at hand” North Side senior Jordan Winston agrees that Liberty mirrors their style of play. “There’s a lot of things we do alike, but there’s also a lot of things we do different” Winston said. “Just gotta come out with the same mindset. Gotta be hungry.” Another similarity between the Indians and Crusaders is their exceptional Week 1 performances. North Side rocked JCM 47-0, while Liberty Tech defeated Henry County 20-3 in Paris. Neither team is expecting Friday’s matchup to be a blowout. “Both team started off strong in Week 1. High expectations for both,” Liberty senior Hunter Brown said. “Hopefully, it’ll be a big turnout.” LIVE coverage from Liberty Tech begins on Friday on WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News.
