Worker at TVA building in Chattanooga dies after fall
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – A 63-year-old worker has died of injuries he suffered in a fall at the TVA office building in Chattanooga.
Police said Edward Morgan was an employee of Total Building Maintenance, which was doing contract work for TVA. Police said witnesses reported that Morgan was trying to slide a metal grate a few inches from a wall to paint the building but accidentally pulled it too far, causing it to fall into a culvert.
Police said Morgan’s fingers were apparently stuck in the grate, making him fall about 20 feet into the culvert. Police said he was critically injured in the fall Monday and died at Erlanger Medical Center.
Tennessee occupational safety officials will also investigate.
