Autopsy: Memphis officer shot 8 times

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – An autopsy report says a Memphis police officer killed in the line of duty in August was shot eight times.

According to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1FXaIPK), the autopsy report found that bullets pierced Officer Sean Bolton’s face, torso, arm, leg, hip, thigh and hand. The report says it appears the shots to his abdomen were the fatal ones.

Bolton was killed Aug. 1 after approaching an illegally parked car along a street that had been known for years as a quiet oasis amid a troubled neighborhood.

Police have charged 29-year-old Tremaine Wilbourn, who was on probation for an armed bank robbery, with first-degree murder.

Bolton, who was white, was the third Memphis officer to be fatally shot in slightly more than four years. Wilbourn is black.
