Woman cleared of charges in son’s death

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) – A judge has dismissed charges against an East Tennessee woman who had been accused of neglect and murder in the death of her 4-year-old son.

The decision on Thursday came after a grand jury declined to indict Tiffani Holston of Elizabethton in the 2012 death of her son, Joshua Holston, who was struck by a dump truck.

She was originally indicted a month after his death, but contested the charges and was re-indicted in 2013. A judge dismissed those charges, which led prosecutors to present the case to another grand jury, which did not find enough evidence to support the counts.

The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/1L8MGyl) reports the case was dismissed a month before a trial was set to begin.
