Several state, county roads closed due to flooding

JACKSON, Tenn.-Flooding causes several roads across Tennessee to close Wednesday. Officials with TDOT said they closed four state roads in Crockett, Dyer, Obion and Haywood counties. Staff with the Crockett County Roads Department told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they had to close three other streets as well. TDOT staff said deciding which roads to close comes down to a judgement call about public safety. “Our guys that are out working on the road they do this everyday when they’re is some sort of a weather event or their maintaining the highway. So, it’s really a judgement call,” said Nichole Lawrence with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. As of early Wednesday afternoon, many of the roads remained closed.
