UNION CITY, Tenn. — Many residents are excited to hear that it is now safe to drink from their faucets. The Union City Water Department lifted a ‘boil water’ alert that affected nearly the entire community. Union City Water Director, Bobby Reid said it was an urgent matter that was dealt with as soon as possible. “When we have a problem like this, it impacts the whole community, and that’s the reason we worked as fast as we could to get this back up again.” Schools, various medical facilities and local businesses were forced to close as a result of the boil alert. Employees from Corner BBQ, a local restaurant said that the ‘boil water’ alert has costs them a very large amount of money. “It did cost quite a bit, cause we’re used to having certain amenities for our customers like fresh coffee and when you have to continuously go back and grab bottles of water to fill your coffee pot up, it takes away from your rime with your customer.”, said Danielle Thompson Union City officials said that water from the faucet may be cloudy, however it is safe to drink.
