CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — All five puppies stolen from a Crockett County animal shelter have been returned. According to Rick Bowen with Companion Pet Rescue and Transport, three puppies were found late Wednesday night along McCleary Road. The final two were located by police in Gadsden, Thursday evening. Bowen said the puppies did not have any visible injuries, but appeared tired and very hungry when they returned to the kennel. Bowen said three of the puppies were adopted to families in New England. “They’ll probably be leaving next week and head up north for their happy ending,” he said. Bowen estimates he drove about 100 miles through the county searching. “Puppies tend to hang around houses and things like that. Stuff they’re sort of familiar with, but we just haven’t seen them yet,” he said.
