Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Wednesday

Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy tonight under light winds allowing for temperatures to drop to the upper 40s and lower to middle 50s by sunrise at 5:48 p.m. Thursday morning. Thankfully, next week looks much warmer but the wet weather is also forecast to return before the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms continue to look likely for Friday.

THURSDAY
Expect a partly cloudy to mostly sunny day on Thursday with rain being kept at bay for one more day. Temperatures will be warmer than they were today but are still likely to remain below the average high of 80°F. Tomorrow’s highs will be in the lower to middle 70s.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND
An area of low pressure will approach West Tennessee on Friday bringing cloudy skies along with scattered showers and thunderstorms. It no longer looks like the Mid-South will take a direct hit from this area of low pressure, so some parts of West Tennessee are likely going to see more rain than others. Due to a lack of certain ingredients in the atmosphere, severe weather looks unlikely but lightning will be possible as a few thunderstorms move through the region during the afternoon.

The best chance for rain appears to take place in the morning and afternoon with showers becoming lighter and more scattered by Friday evening. Parts of southwest Tennessee near the Tennessee River could receive more than an inch of rain on Friday in areas that experience thunderstorms. The weekend looks great with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 70s.
