Weather Update: 10:00 PM Wednesday

Currently it is still warm and muggy with temperatures in the low to mid 80s. It’ll be a slow cool down tonight… but temps really won’t cool down too much. Tonight, low temps stay in the low to mid 70s under clear skies.

By Thursday, things start off hot and dry. By the afternoon and evening, the chance for showers and thunderstorms return to West Tennessee as a back door cold front stalls across the region. Some of these storms may become strong at times as most of West Tennessee is under a marginal risk for severe activity. This is a low end risk, just a 1 on our scale out of 5. So really the scattered thunderstorms could produce some strong wind and small hail. The afternoon high temps will soar back into the mid 90s and the feel-like conditions are expecting to be hotter than today with heat index values between 101-106 degrees. Heat advisories may be issued for the afternoon.

Friday the stalling frontal system will continue to dip farther south, keeping the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. By Saturday the cold front will lift back to the north which will keep the chance for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast to start off the weekend, mainly along the Tennessee River.
