Weather Update: 5:30 PM

Heat Advisories are extended until 8 PM Friday for parts of the area. Heat indices are expected to reach back into the triple digits and settle between 105-110 degrees. It’ll be another steamy afternoon. Currently, temps are slow to cool and we are still sitting in the mid 80s. Clouds are starting to roll in making skies partly to mostly cloudy.

Tonight, we’ll stay warm and muggy and we have the chance for overnight showers and thunderstorms. They chance for rain is about a 30% chance tonight and they will be hit-and-miss across the area. Not everyone will see that rain that we all want but some of us could get a little bit. Lows are looking to fall back into the mid 70s.

Tomorrow the chance for rain continues but we’ll have a better chance for rain and thunderstorms after that stalling frontal system drops south overnight. Some of the storms could become strong at times but the risk for severe activity still stay relatively low. (A marginal risk so a 1 out of 5). We will still be dealing with the dangerous heat indicies though. Again, the feel like conditions will return to the triple digits with reading between 105-110 at times. Actual high temps are expected to reach back into the low to mid 90s.

The chance for rain takes us into the weekend… and the heat follow too. The last bit of this slow, and stalling front will push back to the north on Saturday. But we keep the chance for pop-up showers on Sunday. With the heat and humidity it’s very possible that isolated showers could pop to end the weekend.
